Dear Parents

It is lovely to have some beautiful sunshine at last and hopefully this will continue during the summer term. Please can I ask for your support in providing your child with a hat or cap to wear at break/lunch times; please ensure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

We also ask that sun cream is applied at home before they arrive at school.

Should we get some very hot weather we will give consideration as to how long children are outdoors.

As we are now in the summer term, children may wear polo shirts and dresses for their summer uniform. Can I respectfully remind parents that only sensible shoes or sandals may be worn in black, tan or white and with socks. Children may wear a watch and small plain stud earrings but no other jewellery and no nail varnish is allowed. Hair bands and hair accessories should be blue or black and small in size and hair styles should be appropriate. Your support in maintaining a high standard of uniform is very much appreciated, thank you.

Week beginning 21st May is our focus on Well-Being Week and it also coincides with ‘Walk to School Week’. Due to distance, we appreciate that not all children may be able to walk to school; however, parking your car a little further away from school and walking for 5 minutes will help you and your child to be a little more active and enable your child to be part of Walk to School Week. During Well-Being Week the children will be involved in a number of activities to help them to develop positive mind, body and soul.

Some of you may have seen PCSO Neil Walters in and around school. He is working with staff and children in order to develop closer ties with our school community. He is here to offer support and to also talk to children about the various aspects of his role. We look forward to continuing to work alongside the PCSOs in the future.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Some of our children recently attended an Anti-Bullying Conference held in Dudley. The children had a wonderful day; this is now going to be the start of Glynne’s involvement in The Diana Anti-Bullying Awards. We are very pleased to have been part of something so important.

Royal Wedding

To celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding, Dudley Catering Services are holding a ‘design a crown’ colouring competition. You may have seen that your child has brought home a blank crown. On Thursday 17th May, children having a hot dinner will be able to enter their individually decorated crown into the competition.

Please can I respectfully remind parents and carers that due to the volume of people at the beginning and end of the school day it is not safe for children to ride bikes and scooters across the school grounds. However, they are very welcome to do so at PTA Activity Night!

May I also remind parents that when dropping children off at clubs on a morning or collecting from clubs at the end of the day not to drive onto the school site. Thank you all for your support in this.

Linked to a similar matter, can I respectfully remind parents/carers to park considerately in the local area as residents have contacted school again to say that the way some people park is making the situation very unsafe for our children. The last thing that we want is for a child to get hurt due to parents/carers not thinking about the way they park. Please respect our neighbours.

Going Paper-less!

Update … We now have 96% of parents signed up to ParentPay and 73% have downloaded the Parenthub app which is fantastic. We hope that the paperless system is working well and that you are finding it easier to receive communication directly.

Don’t forget to:

  • Make sure your email address is correct in ParentPay and that you are receiving emails from us.

  • Download the Parenthub app from your app store. Create an account. Add ‘@GlynnePri’ to subscribe.

At the start of this term we welcomed Mrs Asbridge back from maternity leave.
