Welcome back to the start of a new academic year. I hope you all had a good summer and enjoyed the break. What wonderful weather we had!
We are pleased to welcome back Mrs Saunders and we also welcome a new member of staff to school, Mrs Trueman, who will be working with children in Year 2.
Over the summer Miss Antoniou got married and we welcome her back as Mrs Timmington. Miss Mason also got married and we welcome her back as Mrs Biggs.
We hope they will both be very happy and wish them the best of luck.
The children all looked very smart on the first day back in shirt and tie; thank you for your support. Wearing the correct uniform is an important part of belonging to our school community.
Just a reminder that next week we will be holding Parent Information Meetings for children in Y1-Y6. (We held the Nursery and Reception Meetings last term.) We look forward to seeing you.
Mon 10th Sept
Y3/Y4 at 6:00pm
Followed by a Kingswood Meeting for Y4.
Mon 10th Sept
Y5/Y6 at 6:45pm
Followed by a PGL Meeting for Y6.
Wed 12th September
Y1/Y2 at 6:30pm
Parents in Y1-Y6 will soon be receiving an envelope containing information/personal details regarding your child. We ask that you update the information and return it to school at the Parent Information Meetings. Throughout the year please ensure that we have accurate and up to date information, regarding, emergency contact numbers, mobile phones and any relevant medical information. Please contact school as soon as possible to make any necessary amendments to the records that we hold should any details have changed.
If your child suffers from asthma, please ensure that they have the appropriate inhalers in school and that they are kept up-to-date. Asthma forms will be available in the envelopes given out prior to the Parents’ Information Meetings.
Communication between home and school is an important part of school life. We are now a ‘paperless school’ and all our correspondence tends to be in electronic format. Payments, other than for lunchtime, are now collected via Parent Pay. It is therefore really important that ALL parents sign up to Parent Pay and Parent Hub. If you need help to do this or require any further information, please contact the school office.
At the start of this academic year please can I politely remind parents/carers not to drive onto school premises without permission and to park outside of school with due care and consideration for the safety and welfare of others. Your help in this would be greatly appreciated.
We continue to promote good attendance and punctuality and appreciate parents contacting school on the first day of absence. Please be aware that holidays in term time can no longer be authorised and leave of absence can only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Unauthorised absences may result in a warning letter or fines being issued. Leave of absence forms can be downloaded from our school website or collected from the school office.
We are extremely lucky to have a School Nurse who can offer help and support to staff, parents and children. Our named nurse is Jackie Fox and she will be offering ‘drop-in sessions’ throughout the term. If you would like the opportunity to talk to the school nurse, she will be available on the following days at 9:00am:
Thursday 13th September
Wednesday 26th September
Thursday 11th October
Thursday 25th October
Thursday 8th November
Thursday 22nd November
Thursday 6th December

Friends of Cot Lane Park
We have shared with children that Cot Lane Park will officially be opened this afternoon. I know the children we love the new play area. Let’s hope that the sun continues to shine!
We are all looking forward to this academic year and we hope you are too. If you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact school.
Yours sincerely, Miss T Powell
